View Full Version : I need to splice into a PVC DWV line -- But no room!

OK, I'm stumped.

I recently changed out the sink and garbage disposal in my home; the installers hooked everything up, and it worked for a while.

However, it keeps leaking. I looked under the sink--and the outlet for the garbage disposal runs UPWARD slightly, into a T-junction where it joins the drain from the other sink.

The problem (as you can see in the pictures) is the connection to the DWV line is too high... it's the connection on the left (the connection on the right runs to a vertical pipe into which the dishwasher drains).

This DWV is under an island in the kitchen, so there's an air admittance valve at the top of the main DWV pipe.

The solution in my mind is just cut the DWV low to the ground, and install a new connection -- but the existing fitting is so close to the pipe coming out of the wall I don't know if there will be enough to glue a new fitting on to.

Now what?

Thanks--

Dave
