I am looking to have a gas powered, forced hot water boiler installed in my home to replace an existing 23 year old unit of the same type. Only difference, is the new one has to be direct vented. Of course I want high efficiency, so how much would it cost roughly to have one replaced including the cost of the boiler.

You gave us absolutely no criteria to help you . 1000 sq ft house or 5000 sq ft?Efficiency? Plumbing needs? Piping adequate? Get 3 quotes from established HVAC contractors.

All existing plumbing is in place and is adequate, looking for 90-95% efficiency on roughly a 1300 sq. ft home.

Since pricing varies by brand and location, suggest you get quotes. At the AFUE you are looking for I would ballpark in the $5-6000 range.
