Hi Tax Expert,

I am currently in Bay Area California on my OPT visa and earning gross income of $30K a year. I don't know what percentage am I being dedcuted for taxes from my income, but I know that I am paying around $100+ in taxes every paycheck, which is issued to me every 2 weeks.
Next week, my income will increase to almost double this amount, which will be around $75-80K.

Would you know in which income tax bracket I am at $35K and how much I will be once I start earning $75-80K?

Thank you very much!

Confused:

Your taxable income for the entire year will determine what tax bracket you will be taxed in. Look at a previous year return and look for the words TAXABLE INCOME. Notice how they added your total income and then subtracted your adjustments, standard/itemized deduction, and exemptions to derive your taxable income.

For 2007, if your taxable income is between 7,825 and 31,850, your tax bracket will be 15%.

For 2007, if your taxable income is between 31,850 and 77,100, then your tax bracket will be 25%.
