A portion of my molar split off when eating an almond late last night. It does not hurt, and I have the piece that broke off - it's the inside half. It's Sunday and unable to call a dentist, plus my schedule will not allow a trip to dentist till Tuesday. Question:
Will brushing my teeth or using my lister one whitening rise hurt the broken area? What's the best way to keep it clean so it doesn't get infected or start to hurt. No pain yet!

No pain from broken molar last night - is it safe to rinse with Listerine whitening formula as I normally do? Will any chemicals in it damage or cause problems with the inside of tooth exposed? What about brushing with my Colgate paste? All okay?

It's safe to brush, rinse with mouthwash or peroxide, if that's what you mean by chemicals... in fact you should. Although salt dissolved in warm water is just as good if not better than all those products on the shelf.
I have lived with broken teeth for years, as do many. Monday is a holiday in the US. Call and explain on Tuesday and you may or may not be seen then. It's not an emergency if it doesn't hurt. No reason to save the piece that broke off.

Be as gentle as possible, no matter what you do. The last thing you want is to wake up any sleeping nerves and get them upset. Avoid anything cold and of course chew on the other side. Don't eat sticky or crunchy foods.
