The flap in the back of the tank acts like it has no suction. It opens but won't close and don't know why unless I shut it myself. The water won't go down in the bowl. I've used a snake on it and it don't seem clogged. What could be the problem?

Hi miranda and welcome, the flap in the back of the toilet tank closes by gravity when the water level lowers not suction. If the water is not leaving the tank there has to be blockage, has something been dropped in the tank? You may have to pull the toilet to clear it. There'll be an expert along so hang in a little while. Good luck

HI again miranda, I don't understand exactly what you've done? Are you putting a snake in the tank on the back of the toilet? You say it went all the way through, to where in the toilet bowl? And water still won't go through? Try and post clearer what is happening?

I used the snake in the bowl. How can I check to see if there is a blockage in the back tank? Do I have to take it apart

If there is water in the tank on the back of the toilet and you lift the fapper up water should flow out of the back and into the bowl. Now if your saying that happens and the water doesn't leave the bowl then you have a mainline clog that will need to be snake. Is there any other fixtures in the house affected? Do you have a clean-out that you can access? You may have to snake from there. Answer these questions for you next option.

If the problem's in the tank with the flapper why are you snaking the bowl? Am I missing something? If the flapper's new di you cut the ring off before you put it on the hooks? When the flapper's seated is there 1/4" of play in the chain? Back to you, Tom
