My child's father hasn't spoken to me since I was 5 months pregnant and has never seen my child. He is aware of our child though. He already has one child he pays child support on and has twins on the way. I want to file for support but I'm worried he would able to get rights to see my baby. I do not trust him. Since he has abandoned my child would he have any chance of getting rights to her?

He will and does have rights to ask for visitation of HIS child, ( it is his child also, not just yours)

You need to file for custody of child and of child support.
Your filing does not give him any more rights than he already has.

He already has the same rights as any father. He just needs to go to court to enforce them. Filing against him for child support will not change that. If he wanted visitation and joint custody, he just needs to go to court and request it. Since he hasn't been a part of the child's life up to this point, the visitation he gets would be limited, but he would get some.

So file for support.

One more point to make. The courts will look at this situation from the angle that this man was good enough for you to have sex with, then he should be good enough to be a father to your child. If every woman thought about what type of father the man would make before engaging in sex with him, there might be fewer situations like yours.
