The water in our toilet won't go down for a long time after it is flushed, then when it does go down big bubbles comes up from the toilet,is it air locked?

No, its not airlocked. You have a partial blockage in the drainage piping downstream from the toilet. The line needs to be augered either from a clean out of sufficient size, or pull the toilet and snake from the toilet drain. Now, this is assuming you are on city sewer. If you are on a private septic tank I would suggest checking the septic tank/system first to make sure you don't have issues there.

Hi munchipp and welcome to The Plumbing Page at AMHD.com. Lee nailed it! What's happening is that when you flush the discharge hits a partial blockage and bounces back sending a bubble of sewer gas ahead of it causing the siphon action to stop.
The solution would be to snake the drain line. This can be done by either pulling the toilet or snaking from the lavatory roof vent. Good luck, Tom
