I am 22 years old. Last weekend I thought my period was going to start early because I got couple of droplets of blood on my pantyliner, so I put a tampon in and later when took it out it was hardly stained. Then today I got cramps again and my pantyliner was stained again so I thought that it will start today and put a tampon in. then when came home took it out and again it was hardly stained and for 5 hours had a pad on and there is not even a drop of blood on it. Last month my period was late a week and came in brown clots and I thought it was because I had finals and was stressed out. So it should start around this date. I'm kind of worried is this normal and yes I am sexually active, for over 4 months now, with one guy, not crazy at it and not to often if it has anything to do with it. But haven't done it for the past 2 weeks so don't think it's the reason behind it.

Yes, stress can cause your period to do strange things. So can sudden changes in activity, weight, health, medications, changes in meds, etc. Do you get the picture? Your body reacts to a lot of things. As you mature, your body will settle in to sort of a routine but that routine will change over time. After each pregnancy, your periods will likely change. If it was heavy before, it will likely be light after but after another pregnancy, it will change again. Dark brown or black spotting is just old blood that hasn't completely been cleaned from the body and when stressed the body will sometimes get rid of that in between periods. The best thing you can do is get a good Doctor &/or nurse that you can talk to and ask questions of.
