I have a daughter who is 22 now and she has not spoken to me for almost 5 years. She used to live with me and my husband who I have been with for 12 years. Everything seemed to be great, I did spoil her a bit, but things were fine.

One night, I had gone to bed and when I sleep I don’t hear a thing, but this night I was woken by the police coming into my bedroom, telling me my daughter had taken an overdose. She was OK, but taken to hospital, I went to the hospital but she wouldn’t see me. To this day I don’t know what it is I have supposed to have done.

I divorced her dad when she was 3, she has moved between me and her father over the years. I just wish I knew how to try and put things right, I’ve tried all kinds of things. She now is living and working for her farther and he hates me.

Any suggestions?

It starts by figuring out why she stopped speaking to you and why it's taken 5 years to try to resolve the issues.

Everything was fine and one night she tried to take an overdose and ended up in hospital and she just says to me that I know why she did it... she had split with her boyfriend at the time and as far as I am aware, we got on great

So what went on between you and her boyfriend? And you and her dad for that matter?
