Goodday,

I would like your dispassionate advise about an issue brothering me.I applied for a Non Immigrant Visa Class B1/B2 of the USA last January and was successful.

I was meant to attend a training in a finance related course around February but alas 3days before I embarked on my trip,I lost my mother! This occurrence put paid 2my plan of travelling to the USA as it sets me back a bit financially.

My visa page is not annotated and I was given a 2yrs multiple entry visa

Now I am ready to travel vacation but at loss as to what reason to cite now at the port of entry.

I am a first time traveller.I av all evidences to show why I didn't make d earlier trip because of my mum's demise

Summer is almost here and wish to travel for vacation and to also do some shopping to sell here on my way back.

The season I got the visa was not actualised because of my mum's demise once again.

What reason could I possibly cite at the port of entry this time.

Thanks in anticipation of a seasoned, informed responses and advice

No one is going to help you formulate a lie, if that is what you are asking. I don't think anyone in the US is looking for visitors who lie to get into the US.

Tell the truth and see what happens.

Judy,, that's a most uncharitable a thing to say! Lie for what... that my mum died ? OMG... if I was desperate to get into the US,I would have applied long ago.for yr information,I am 38yrs,a banker, married with a kid and I have never owned an international passport until a gale of events happened in the course of doing my job. I won a major account for my organization which culminated in my being nominated as the best staff the month of January and the bank decided to motivate me by rewarding me with an oversee human capacity development training in Treasury Management because we lack skilled manpower in that area.

While the training has not been cancelled but for the fact that the training company ask my organization to wait till a full class could be convened before I can come.

And not having had an oversee vacation ever,I just thought to trigger that part of my visa which says I can come also as a tourist while the training company sorts itself out.

Are you suggesting that I should sit out the visa if things don't get clarified asap?

I am not in 1 million years desperate about coming to the US least of all lie abo ut coming in

Sorry, 38-year old banker, married with a “kid.” I took your statement (“What reason could I possibly cite at the port of entry this time”) to mean that you were looking for a statement other than the truth. I “assumed” that “looking for reason” meant you didn’t plan to give the real reason and were looking for someone’s input to come up with some other reasonable explanation.

Good you are “not in 1 million years desperate about coming to the US.” I thought you posted because you were interested in entering. I never said you were desperate.

Maybe I’m not understanding what you asked. What did “What reason ...” mean?

Since there is annotation on your visa, you should bring a copy of your mom's death certificate with you. Tell the officers the truth... nothing to worry.
