My AC fan motor went out so I replaced it. The old motor connected with red, black, and brown. These all matched up with the wires from the contactor and the compressor. The new motor came with red, black, and white. I connected white to black, black to red, and brown to brown. The AC unit fired up with no problem... until this morning. It was making a loud "squealing", that's the best I can describe, and the fan was barely moving. I immediately shut off the thermostat but to my surprise the fan is still spinning, still making noise, just a bit quieter now. I pull the fuses and leave it sit for the rest of the day. I go back out and check my wiring. I plug in the fuses and the fan just starts spinning, I then touch the contactor with a stick and it immediately fires up to full speed. I let up on the contactor and the fan slowed again. Just to see what happens I turn the thermostat on and it starts spinning like normal. After about 20 minutes the squeal comes back and the fan slows down again. I shut the thermostat off and pulled the fuses. Here I sit now. Please help, buying the new motor was a stretch on funds, a capacitor I can replace, and even the contactor.
