Asalaam aliekum
Sir my name is atif and I would like a clarification on 2 of these questions.
1)If I work in a bank or in the vicinity of where a bank is situated, is it against islam or is it haraam?
2)If someone has a fixed deposit account in a particular bank and maybe after a few months or years there's some amount of interest which is credited to the account, the interest that is credited is it considered as haraam?

Working in a bank or near a bank is not haram in islam. You can work in bank, in share market etc. In Islam lending someone money and charging them with heavy interest is haram. When it comes to fix deposit or bank accounts, it should be understand that the money we put in banks is used by government or authorities for our own development. Similarly the way we pay tax which is used for public welfare. So if you are getting any interest from bank, donate some of its part for good work. Do not lend money to people and take interest on it.
