I saw a film in the early 1970s where a group of American nuclear bomber planes was sent to destroy Russia - I think they were supposed to be recalled, but paranoia being what it is they didn't believe the recall instructions and went on...

The lady co-pilot was blinded due to not wearing her protective visor in time...

I always thought the stars were Powers Boothe and Rebecca de Mornay but I know that is wrong - it was a long time ago, folks! Can anyone help me with the Title?

Powers Boothe and Rebecca de Mornay were in "By Dawn's Early Light" from 1990. What the heck did I see in 1972??
