Hi all,

I have a lab that's nearly 2yrs old, he is really well trained and for the most part he does exactly as he's told. However we have a problem getting him to go to the toilet whenever we are away from home.

He's fully house trained and we have a toilet command for him, which he follows at home, but whenever we go somewhere, say for the day or weekend, he just refuses to do his business no matter how much he's busting. He will whimper and cry because he has to go so badly, but no matter how much we command/comfort him that he can go he just won't. It get's to the point where the poor thing literally pees himself, so needless to say we've had quiet a few accidents.

Even the promise of his favourite treat for doing his business isn't enough and that's saying something for a Labrador :D We've tried everything but just can't seem to get him in that comfort zone so he can go.

So please does anyone have any tips or tricks to help my puppy relive himself away from home? Any advice would be great

Poor thing. I hope he doesn't have to go away until this is resolved.
I would try gradual training in your neighborhood at home, going further away each time on walks, and then short car trips to local places like parks. Has he always just gone on your property? He somehow learned this behavior. Dogs love to mark all over the place, and he must have been taught something that made him believe it was wrong to go out of your yard.
