I have been put on 3 weeks of antibiotics after having issues with boils. I have been on birth control for 13 years now and have a regular period every month, even when I have been put on antibiotics in the past. Well last month I had missed the last 3 pills before my period week and the pharmacist told me to start a new pack on Sunday instead of starting my period pills so I missed that period. Since then I have been taking my pills on time and all but got put on antibiotic a week before my period. I ended up missing this one too. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests that have come up negative. I am concerned I may need to have blood test to make sure. I don't want to keep taking birth control if I happen to be pregnant but I don't want to stop taking them and not be pregnant. Should I wait it out or see a doctor?

A doctor may not be able to help if it's too early to test.

Exactly how late would your period be at this point? A test taken before your period is at least 2 weeks late, may produce a false negative. Also, did you test using first morning urine?

You could go to the doctor for a blood test, but it's possible it's too early to get a reliable result. You may have no choice but to wait it out.

Just for your information. Taking antibiotics while on the pill won't make you miss a period, it will just make the pill less effective. You should always use backup birth control (a condom) when taking antibiotics while on the pill.

I am now a week late for this one.. I had one day if just a little spotting but that was all.. I thought after missing my period last month it would be really heavy this one but again it wasn't.

Did you read the question at all?

I don't think the OP wanted poor advice from a 15 year old who obviously doesn't know how birth control works.

The OP was on antibiotics, she also missed pills. Both of those circumstances have increased the likelihood of pregnancy. She didn't use backup birth control either. There's actually a very good chance of pregnancy.

Don't post unless you know the answer to the question. :(

I went to doc today.. they done test which come out negative. She said if I miss next one then be concerned. She told me to keep taking my birth control that it wouldn't hurt anything.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll cross my fingers that this works out the way you want it to.

Good luck. :)
