Please take care in writing expressions to properly use parentheses. What you wrote is this:

cotx -tanx = 4 \cos x - \frac 2 {\sin 2x}

whereas what I think you mean is this:

cotx - tanx = \frac {4 \cos^2 x- 2}{\sin 2x}

As usual. Start by converting the cotx and tanx functions to their sine and cosine equivalents, then simplify. Look for opportunities to employ other well known identities such as \cos(2x) = \cos^2x - \sin^2x = \2 \cos^2x - 1
