Hi, I am Jules and I am 16. There is a guy my age I have a crush on. He sits next to me in class and is very nice to me. He sometimes sort-of plays with my hands and bumps them. Once he made a comment on how small they are (I do have very small hands by the way) so we put our hands together to compare. Was he flirting with me? If he was, I am still not sure if he is just really friendly with all girls. I have known him for 3 years but I still don't always see him with other girls a lot. Any how I want to know a safe way to let him know that I am interested. A way so it won't be awkward around each other if he is not. Also is it weird for the girl to make the first move, is it desperate, and do you think he was flirting with me?
Hope someone can help.
-Thanks

No, it is not entirely weird for a girl to make the first move. So men are a bit slow at grasping where their own feelings as well as yours are at, so you need to initiate it.

However, as someone who has MANY male friends, I cannot exactly pin-point a reason as to why he is behaving the way he is. That could have been his method at small talk and flirting. Just try talking to him a little bit more outside of a classroom environment where you both won't feel as restrained.

If you don't see him doing these things with other girls, he could be shy, not interested in the other girls, or not to be rude, he could not want a relationship or even fancy women. Who knows. Until you talk to him face-to-face, you will never know.

All the best.
