Came here on a J1 Visa (Intern category) and was subject to the 2-year rule. The J1 Visa was valid for 6 months, and I got the 2-year rule Waiver before the Visa expired. After I had received the Waiver, the same J1 Visa got extended for another 6 months (the same program, same DS-2019 number). I was given the same DS-2019, except with a new End Date. The extension did not say anything about being subject to the 2-year rule again.
So, the order is: J1 Visa (Subject to 2-year rule), got the Waiver, J1 Visa got extended.
Question: Did the Waiver cover both my initial period and the extension since I got the Waiver first before the visa was extended? So now I am still free from the 2-year rule for the rest of my life? I don't plan to use a J1 Visa anymore in the future. Did the extension invalidate my Waiver? The Waiver was obtained based on the No Objection basis.
