I have ignored and just accepted my night time itching. Mostly at ankles. But it will start in one place, as soon as I scratch, it moves somewhere else on my body. Ex. My right arm will itch, I scratch the arm, and as soon as I do, It will itch on my ankles. Not on my arm anymore.I scratch the ankle and it moves to my thigh. And so on and so on. Rarely, the scratching relieves the itch, it just moves to another part. Sometimes I am itching uncontrollably half the night " chasing my itch ". . Almost like my thy skin is crawling. This has been for about 8 years now. Doctors have given me creams and diets and it seems more like my nerves than a skin condition. Does this sound familiar to anyone else??

Do you have pets?
How old is your mattress?
Do you have a mattress pad between it and sheets?
Do you have any allergies?
How old are you?
Did you have chicken pox as a child? (thinking of what you said about nerve feeling, and shingles)

If you answer those we can discuss each one.

Allergy to the fire-retardant chemicals mattresses are treated with is one thought. Some companies make untreated ones, which cannot be sold by law without a statement from your doctor. Allergy to various kinds of mites that live in bedding is very common. I'm very sensitive to laundry detergents and too much in the wash or the wrong kind (with a scent, usually) makes me itch, especially in bed, so I wash bedding in very little detergent.
