I might have to have an operation to repair a hiatal hernia. Has anybody had this done? How has it been for you? I have heard some horror stories but need to know as much as poss before I decide if I should go ahead. Please tell me if you are glad you had it done.

Is it sliding or paraesophageal?

I don't know, just been told it's a H/hernia. That's causing stomach acid to burn the bottom of the gullet. The op would be to sew the diaphram tighter to the base of the gullet so the stomach doesn't come into the upper chest area. Have you had this op?
