What is a 1892 winchester rifle worth? Details of rifle are: it's a 44-40 with a I believe 30 inch octagon barrel with buck horn sight as well as a flip up peep sight for wind and yardage its lever action and in mint condition. Its had less then a box of shells shot through it. I don't know what kind of wood the stock is though.

Original or a knockoff? I'm betting it's a reproduction.

If it's a genuine from 1892... how can you know for certain its only had less than a box of shells put through it in the following 121 years?

Know the history of it. Given to me by family of original purchaser. The gun has only had 2 owners other than me that used it for protection while mining. Original owner shot at a deer & somehow managed to kill 2... & refused to touch it after that. Plus the rifling is still without wear & no action wear either.

How is the external finish... not just the wood but the metal parts... old rifles are graded by the remaining finish... refinishing an antique rifle will destroy its value.

All original. No refinishing or blooming

Depending on where you live, I'd take the gun to the outdoor gun shows and sells.

Did you get your pain diagnosed 2 years ago and what was it?
