You may also need a referral from your family Dr. (or primary care physician with some insurance plans) depending on what your insurance requires and/or what the specialist such as the urologist requires. Varies by state, by insurance companies, and by the Dr's , in my recent experience. For instance, my insurance does not require referrals but all of the specialists in my area (that I have encountered so far) do require referrals, so I have to get a referral from my family physician in most cases.
