During the warmer times of the year there is a strong odor around where I live. I am not sure if it is somebody hording pet waste in a trash can or what. Can the odor of pet waste make you sick or create some kind of health condition? It has not even been very warm yet and it is started already.

Is it continuous or sporadic? Is your area on public sewerage or septic systems?

There is a sewer system that is private. The odor has been more noticeable during the day when it is hot but yesterday last night it could be smelled. If you have ever had a pet and had clean up after it you most likely what would you do with the droppings? If I walk up the street 2-3 homes away you can smell it but not really in the other direction.

Animal waste can be a health hazard for humans. Animal control and/or health dept. may investigate, especially if you and one or more of your neighbors file a complaint.

'There is a sewer system that is private' doesn't tell us much. Yours? Next door? Do you mean a septic tank or a cesspool? How big are everyone's lots?
- overfull septic or cesspool
- leak in sewer pipes
- dead animal (or person)
- many bags of garbage outside (or inside, possibly)
First ask the neighbors if they smell it too. Then call the town Health Dept/Sanitation.
