View Full Version : Would a brown dye cover Bright purple?

My hair is dyed with directions plum.. It`s now bright purple,bright pink and bright blue and looks horrendous.I have appointments and a night out this week :[
Would a chocolate brown cover this?

I would recommend you have it color corrected professionally. If that is not an option, you can buy hair color remover. When you finish with that product, your hair will look ridiculous - don't panic. I did it when I had a too-dark color job and my hair turned out pastel orange! You just recolor it the desired tone - when I did, it turned out the cool, medium brown I intended.

I think if you dye it brown over the existing color, there will still be red pigment that will show through and there will be variations in the tone since there are multiple colors you are coloring over. For example, when I get highlights in my hair, even if I do all-over single color process the next time, the highlights will stay lighter.
