I'm struggling to control my thoughts at the moment. It's as if they have a mind of their own. And I have two voices in my head one is me and the other is someone else...
I see things that I don't want to see, some horrible things that revolt me...
But I just can't stop seeing them. Loads of things trigger the thoughts.
And it's like my head is fighting against itself...
I just can't control my thoughts...
It's been stopping me getting to sleep as well, and the less sleep I have the more I can't control my thoughts.
Any ideas on how to stop it??

These are serious issues - have you seen a mental health expert?

No...
I'm 12 so I think that it could just be puberty so I don't want to seem stupid if I go to a mental health expert. It's never happened before so it is probably just puberty.
However, my Grandmother has severe schizophrenia (if that's how you spell it) so it could be mental health.
Any ideas how to control my thoughts??

This will be an act of will, of self discipline. If your thoughts are going down the wrong road, then very consciously redirect them to something else.
For instance, if you are an artist, think about taking out a sheet of paper and choosing colored pencils or paints, brushes, and other tools, then mentally set up something to draw/paint such as two action figures duking it out. Then go through the mental process of sketching the action figures with a pencil and erasing what you don't want and then filling in with paint to make your picture. Think about it as detailed as possible. My system to change my thoughts is to clean in extreme detail my bachelor friend's bathroom and kitchen with rags and Comet cleanser and Pine-Sol.

Thanks so much :)
I'll give it a go!

If you can do yoga and breathing exercise will help you a lot. If possible try to do meditation with mantra Om namah shivaya.

I'm with Judy on this one. If you don't find the suggestions of everyone else helpful after you try them, you might want to consider talking to a doctor or even your parents.
Schizophrenia has a tendency to run in families and while 12 is young for diagnosis, it is not unheard of. Even if it's not schizophrenia, sometimes talking to someone else can be very cathartic and they might have suggestions that no one else has thought of to help control your thoughts.

I find advising a 12-year old to say a religious prayer when you have no idea what her religious background is to be remarkably offensive.
In fact, you are suggesting that she pray/chant: "adoration (namas) to Siva (the most holy name of God)" to be totally out of line when it's not on an "Islam" board.
For that matter she could chant "I like M&M's." Why are you suggesting a religious prayer?

I agree with Judy... incredibly poor advice.

I'll third that.
I've said this often on this site. We have religious forums, and we're an international site. Not everyone believes in a God, and you should not assume that they believe in your God. To suggest prayer on a forum where the OP has not asked a religious question, and has not stated that she believes in the same religion you do, is insulting, and offensive.
Keep religion on the religious forums. If you're going to post in other forums, keep your advice specific to the question asked, do not bring religion into it unless the OP specifically asks for that sort of guidance, and if the OP does, stick to advice that's based on her religious beliefs.
Completely inappropriate in this thread.

You have schizophrenia, my sister has it and it appeared at the start of puberty for her too. I'm sorry to say that you can't get better from this and it just gets worse. A few years down the line you may start whispering to the other 'person' in your mind, a decade after that you will start to talk out loud. You will slowly lose yourself identity and pick up strange habits like pulling your own hair etc. My sister now only cares about food and her hair in life and swears that she has conversations with Prince Philip, Lady gaga and Britney Spears. I cannot get a meaningful conversation with her and is nothing but nonsense. Doctors will try and prescribe you with anything like anti depressants or tranquilizers to keep you in a quiet state. This is what they tried to treat my sister with anyway. I'm sorry to scare you but I just wanted to share with you my experience with my sisters diagnosis of schizophrenia. However, 2 people with it are not necessarily going to show the same symptoms and you may show milder symptoms than my sister. Anyway, good luck with the future.

Are you a psychiatrist? I'm shocked that you could give a diagnosis so easily, based on only a few posts from the OP. I don't know one single psychiatrist or counselor that could diagnose schizophrenia based on what was posted here.

Can someone close this post to comments? They're going from bad to worse.
The question has been answered.
