The agitation cycles seem to operate properly but when it comes to the spin cycles the water drains then the washer motor sounds like it is spinning but when you open the lid the motor brakes but the drum was never spinning. I depress the lid switch and give the drum a starter push and will then spin up to speed until the next cycle starts.

Hi, in regards to the washer not spinning, I have seen this before and it's not uncommon problem in the appliance repair world. I've been in the repair biz in Boise for 30 years. So, here we go, you could have a couple of problems.
The clutch could be worn. If it is, it's not gripping the washer spin tube enough. Another is a piece of clothing stuck between the outer and inner basket, giving drag to the spin tube and clutch. The third is the spin tube itself, which encompasses the brake. The brakes could be dragging. I've seen this often. Oh, one more, the motor could be weak. I haven't seen this very often but it's a real possibility. Hope this helps, I know it's a lot. The cost on replacing the spin tube is 300 plus, from a pro. You may want to invest in another washer though, if it's old.

Really great, comprehensive info - but the site advertising your company is not allowed. Wish it were, because I have my own company and have posted over 40,000 times... but it's not allowed.
