I bought a home in PA back in 2003 and recently found a tunnel down my basement hidden behind the washer that is a tunnel going up the back yard with open sewage line running right down. Can I go back on the real estate agent or the seller of the property for not making this known at the time of sale?

You just found this "open" sewer line after 10 years? Where does it end up? Action after to years is highly improbable.

Hi dklockis and welcome to The Plumbing Page at ANHD.com. You're responding to a 9 year old dead threads so I gave you one of your own. Please check the date before you post. Thanks
recently found a tunnel down my basement hidden behind the washer that is a tunnel going up the back yard with open sewage line running right down. This is confusing to me. What's in the tunnel? What do you mean by "open sewer pipe"?
Also what is "running down"? Running down to what? Septic tank? City sewer?
Can I go back on the real estate agent or the seller of the property for not making this known at the time of sale? For what" I'm still looking for a complaint here. WE need more details. Back to you, Tom

I am not a lawyer, but my common sense tells me you may have very little legal recourse after 10 years of living in the house. Consult a R.E. attorney to give you a valid answer regarding this matter.
Just like Tom said, I am also confused about your sewer line situation. The tunnel by itself may not be an issue at all if sewer pipe just runs through it. However, if sewer empties into that tunnel - than you definitely have a problem you have to deal with immediately.
Please, respond with more detailed description + post photos, if possible.
Back to you. Milo
