The igniter turns on but I don't always get the flame one every 10 times and when the flame comes on it only stays on for a few minutes. Any suggestions?

TMCrobbie, I am the owner of an appliance repair business so I think I may be able to help you. There are a few things for you to check. The first thing is your vent. Disconnect the vent in the back of the dryer and see if the flame stays on. If it does, then your house vent is clogged. The other thing that I see very often is the gas valve coils, the two black things that are piggy backed on top of the dryer gas valve. They go bad quite a bit so I would replace those. They're not very expensive. If that doesn't fix, respond back and I'll try to help you the best I can.

I have a short run on my vent so I can see from outside to the back of my dryer so I know it isn't clogged but I will try and replace the coils. It is easy? Can I get them easily? Thanks a lot for your help

Check the flame rod, first. If it's dirty it will cause the problem you described.

Hope this helps, and this fixes it 90 percent of the time. Most of the time the coils are accessed from the front of the dryer, remove front panel. You will need a mini-1/4 bit driver with a small Phillips bit to remove them. You can also use a Phillips stubby.
