So here are the facts.
My girlfriend is very caring and attentive towards me but there are signs that make me think she might still be in love with her ex. She is adamant that they are "best friends"t and nothing more. He broke up with her a few years ago after a 3 year. Relationship. Since then she has been unable to make an intimate relationship, I am the first person she has had sex with in years, she had previously only had sex withher ex.
They are colleges, and though they live quite far apart they speak on a daily basis and perhaps as much as 6 or 7 times a day though the frequency may be down at the moment.
Her apartment had many pictures of him on thr wall. The her bedroom contained exclusively paintings done by him and several more pictures and items of his on the headboard of the bed. Her screen saver is a picture that he drew.
She has said on several occasions that they are just friends and nothing more, only later to state that she does still possess strong feelings of love towards him.
She recently attended a conference with him, arriving early to see his presentation and having dinner and breakfast with him. She was initially going to share a hotel room with him until I said no way.
Again, she insists that they are totally platonic friends and during one instance when I said to her that I thought she was still in love with him and needed to ask him out, she replied that she had asked him out about 2 months earlier only to be rejected. This was a few weeks ago but she insists that she insists that her feelings changed over 48 hours and that she purged all romantic feelings.
I told her that I wanted to break up because it felt unfair and she immediately told her ex that I wanted to break it off because of their friendship, but that she remained loyal to him.
Most of her friends are either ex boyfriends or guys who have professed to like her.
She also said that she did have a problem and was still in love with him and agreed to stop all contact with him and then resumed contact soon after, lying to me about the situation for weeks.
So... What should I do? Is she still in love?
