My fiancé got in a scuffle with someone who is known for doing major drugs and got his knuckle cut pretty badly by the guys tooth, at the same time that guys' lip/mouth started bleeding. Now my fiancé's knuckle is swollen pretty bad and earlier the whole back of his hand was swollen. Is there a risk of him getting a disease like Hip. C from that guy? I have been cleaning his hand with cool water, blotting to dry, applying Neosporin, then wrapping it in gauze and tape, and finally applying a finger splint so that the wound can heal and not reopen every time he moves his hand. It has been 2 days since the scuffle. Thank you for your time.

Yep.. possible. Need to get tested for any exposure so if there was early treatment can be made.

Better to be sure than to guess and guess wrong.

Yes, it can be transmitted through blood. See a doctor, as Smoothy suggested.

I am a nurse and my advice is free.

If the man your finance hit had Hep C (not hip c), there is a possibility that your finance could contract the disease. Since you don't know whether he has Hep C, it is in your finance's best interest to be tested as early detection and treatment is the key to maintaining a healthy liver.

With that said, the human mouth is filthy. Since there is swelling, he needs to be checked for infection.
