Dear doctor
My sister is 18 yrs old and she is obese with her menstrual cycle being irregular. She consulted dietitian, after few days she came to know that she is diabetic when doctor told her to get the following tests which showed the following results:
1. GLUCOSE, FASTING, PLASMA(hexokinase)- 111
2. TSH, ULTRASENSITIVE, SERUM ( CMIA)- 2.850
3. HbAlc (GLYCOSYLATED HEMOGLOBIN), BLOOD ( HPLC) - 9.00
Recently, doctor prescribed her to take glyciphage (5oo mg). After, taking this medicine, she felt nauseating today. She is having chest pain, loss of appetite, dehydration and headache. Are these the side effects of this medicine. PLEASE REPLY ASAP.
Thanks.
Regards
Chandni Gupta.

Talk to your doctor! Glycophage (metformin) is for control of diabetes. I would think with her numbers that she would probably have a higher dosage, but I'm not a doc. When she first got the new medicine there should be information on side effects. Read the information. You can also talk to your pharmacist. What are you waiting for?
