A friend came over recently and sat on my couch and the next day complained of serious itching and redness. He couldn't sleep because it was itching so badly but I own the couch and sit on it all the time and never have this problem. I thought it might be fleas because my dogs sleeps on the couch but I give her flea treatment and spray frequently and I used a flea comb on her and have not seen any. I also vacuumed the couch but I can't figure out why his skin is itching, any ideas and cures?

It could be just dog dander and/or hair on the couch that your friend is allergic to. My bil's chihuahua used to lick my arm and I would break out in hives where he licked. I am not allergic to animals in general, and not even other dogs licking me. You, on the other hand, are immune or are not allergic to your own dog, so no problem there.
