I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and know I am meant to get the down syndrome test done at 12 weeks which does cost (as it is optional) it was mentioned about getting some bloods done around the same time. What are these for and do they cost also or are they bulk billed?

A lot depends on what part of the world you live.

It all depends on where in the world you live (thisis a global website) as to how the billing works. It will also be different from one doctor to another.

I live in Perth, Western Australia and I am going private so was wondering would costs still be involved with the bloods? I had to get my bloods done at 5 weeks to confirm pregnancy and also check for all the common things HIV, Aids etc. I have only had a baby 1 yr ago and do not rememebr having to get bloods done or pay at 12 weeks??

I'm in the US. I have no idea how the billing works in Australia. You will have to contact several doctors in your area to find one that works for you.

It is a help forum. But it is a global forum. You can't expect us to know the specific billing for every area of the world. We are simply volunteers here.

Blood tests at 12 weeks? That's really too early for any congenital tests. Many times it is done for simple dating.

Um... that's being rather unpleasant of you... YOU didn't bother telling us WHERE you lived... nobody here reads minds... and most of the people on this forum aren't in Australia.

If you had ever lived outside of Australia you would know many things are often done differently... sometimes very differently from one country to the next..
