How long does it take to transfer probation from on county to another in the state of New Mexico. My wife lives in santa fe and I live in albuquerque (new mexico). I have been approved by the DA the JUDGE and my LAWYER. But my po says he needs to submit a transfer order to santa fe does anyone know how long it will take. He said a month but I'm not sure.

Hello w:

I'm sure the PO's are doing everything they can to "help" you. And, I HOPE you can detect the sarcasm in that sentence..

When I was on probation, I could live ANYWHERE in the state I wanted to, and I wasn't precluded from traveling ANYWHERE within the state.. I wouldn't be surprised to find out your state has the same rules...

Therefore, you need to READ some stuff.. The first place to look, is your probation conditions. This will list the do's and don't's of your probation. It might mention where you can travel and/or live.. The next place to go is the probation department policy manual, and find out what it says about inter county transfers...

Hopefully, it'll confirm what I suspect. Consequently, you can just move TODAY, and report to the probation department in Sante Fe. No, they're NOT going to like it. But, you're NOT on probation to be liked. You're on it to be treated fairly and lawfully. I wouldn't lay down for them for a second.
