Question what could be the problem for a stainless steel microwave model brand is Emerson the clock is working and programmable,But when I enter time to cook and press start button nothing happens I will not cook at all.

The button pad may be broken/shorted. There are'nt many things a home owner can do to repair a microwave, take it in to the shop.

It could be just that one spot on the button pad. Start. One a pad has a short or open anywhere the whole pad needs to be replaced. Due to the possibility of radiation home owners should not open their unit or attempt home repairs. Some appliances are fair safe to mess with but this isn't one of them.
