Just as soon as you can, get an over the counter spray whose label says safe for puppies 6 weeks and older. It may suggest spraying a towel and wrapping the puppy in it. You also may need a second product that kills flea eggs. Treat every part of the house and car the puppy has been in. Act fast before you have an established flea population. Never take a young puppy to a place with strange dogs like Petsmart. Too much danger of picking up something.

One good idea would be to take any medical records to the office of the vet you plan to use. Let them see the records and schedule an appointment as needed. They will sell you a safe, better spray than the pet stores have. When the puppy goes in for its shots, you can talk about a longer range flea program. The Revolution I use on my dogs can be used on young puppies too. The vet will help you choose from a number of good products. I am quite satisfied with Revolution, but no one product is right for everybody.

Doing something safe, now is essential. Act fast. Getting rid of established fleas is a terrible project.

When you get back with the flea spray, see the sticky, ''What does a puppy need?'', https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/information-articles-our-dogs-expert-labman-53153.html#post251802 Check the sections on housebreaking and books too.

Sprinkeling some table salt around the area where he/she sleeps help a lot. The fleas like salty & they will engorge & die soon on their own. Also spray some oatmeal water on the puppy to relieve the skin of the bites. Cedar wood is good to get rid of fleas too they hate it... you can get cedar wood strips at home depot and sorround the sleeping area with it.
