I've been getting red hot rashes on my knees at nighttime. This has happened three days in a row now. The only reason why I noticed it was because I could feel the heat radiating strongly from my knees. I looked at them, and they had a big red rash on each knee. Does anyone know what this could be? I'm an active 22 year old female. I am not overweight; I weigh 135 at 5'7".

When you undress, or are in bed a while, or are sitting at the computer or TV, or just when exactly? You are sure it hasn't been developing as the busy day winds down, which would make more sense?

No, none of those. I'm a personal trainer, so I'm standing most of the day or walking. I know the rashes are definitely not from my clothes, getting on the floor/kneeling, and I don't watch TV. It usually happens randomly at night after I'm home

Then it does sound related to your busy day, but I still have no idea what it is. You may be very skin-sensitive to the stress on your knees as a trainer, especially if you lean forward a lot while helping people. Inflammation in the knees could be actually warm enough to make your skin get red, just like a summer heat rash. Are you getting enough gentle exercise of your legs in various directions instead of just leaning over others? I'd put ice on them and then get in a warm bath.

Yeah, and I don't really lean forward in that way that ill stress my knees. But I will definitely keep that in mind and start icing every day for now. Thank you
