My fiancée has pain from his belly button to his sternum. He's had it since last night. It's a dull pain, but if he pushes in his stomach, the pain becomes sharp. Also, he just pressed in on both sides of his stomach with his thumbs and then pulled them away quickly, and when he pulled them away, he experienced a lot of pain.

Take him to the doctor... there are a LARGE number of things it MIGHT be... from simple indigestion or gas to life threatening conditions...
