My neice is 34 weeks pg, and her ob said that the baby wasnt swallowing liquid and would need an operation on his throat when he is born. She went for a second opinion. The doctor got nervous and sent her back to her original doctor after seeing the history of the baby. The other doctor said he wouldnt accept her back. Now she is just gonna wait till she gets labor pains and go to the emergency. Can you explain?
Did they mention if there was low amniotic fluid? One indication for this can be that baby is not swallowing as they should be. Was there something to do with the development of baby's throat seen on an ultrasound? Very rarely a baby may be born who will not be able to swallow liquid to their stomach as the connection is not complete. An operation would be necessary soon after birth.
Obviously there is no way to know online if this is the situation your niece is dealing with as there may be something else that is going on... it is just one possibility.
I wish her well and hope the situation can be taken care of quickly and easily.
