Dear all,

I am looking for help in the above item.

I moved into USA at the end of 2011 by quitting my job in Canada. However I was eligible for the Canadian employment insurance (unemployment benefit, about CN$10000 for 2012). I would appreciate very much if anyone could advice me on how I should report this income, i.e. what form and which item of the form.

Huge thanks!

You can report the income on the unemployment compensation line of Form 1040.

You should also file Form 1116 to claim the Foreign Tax Credit for Canadian taxes paid.
