Does anyone know what the recommended dosage is for the treatment of mange mites on dogs? How Much ? How Often? Can I give it orally instead of injecting it?

Thank you:confused:

1 I really don't think it is good to try to medicate your dog yourself.

2 You should have the dog on a heart worm remedy in the mosquito season, most of which use Ivermectin, and should control anything the Ivermectin is effective for.

3 My Heartgard+ tablets, for dogs 26-50 pounds, contains 136 mcg Ivermectin each. From that you may be able to calculate a safe dose for your dog.

4 If the dog has not been on heart worm medicine, it may have heart worms too, and die if treated with Ivermectin.

A single dose is effective for most things. Heart worm remedy is commonly given orally.

As labman says, you shouldn't try to figure out how to medicate your dog yourself. There are three types of mange. Two of which should be treated by your vet. If your dog hasn't been tested for heartworm, you need to do that prior to treating your dog's mange. As labman suggests, doses of ivermectin can kill a dog with heartworm.

Please take your pet to a vet and have him/her give your dog a checkup. Let the vet diagnose the type of mange your pet has and follow the vet's advice on treatment.
