Helping my sister

I have been going insane between trying to save my sister and trying to keep everyone from going crazy. My sister suffers from Brain damage which she got at 16 due to a terrible car accident. She is able to function (to some extent) but seems to be trapped in the mind of a 16 year old. She abuses drugs and alcohol and frequently loses her mind. She has memory and depression problems without the use of drugs or alcohol and becomes psychotic after only a few drinks. I have tried to support her and listen to her but am terrified for her. Nothing seems to register. She has terrible friends who encourage her behaviour instead of trying to help put a stop to it. My mother is panicked and no longer knows what to do or how to help. I have been thrown into this head first and being the youngest am stuck between them all. I am lost, I need help. She needs an intervention and quick! I love my sister, I fear for her life... Could someone please help?
I don't know what steps I should be taking, and wouldn't even know where to start... If someone has had any experience dealing with this sort of thing please contact me quickly.
Thanks you all for your time.

Your sister really needs help. Try to be there for her. Your sister can't get help if she is not ready to. May I ask how old is she? If she is under the age of 26 she can apply for a program called Mercy Ministries but only if she wants help. Please pray for her because God can help her and you!

I would suggest getting her in a program at a local hospital that specializes in treating the mental health of brain injured individuals. It is not uncommon after someone sustains a traumatic brain injury for the person to be depressed or have dramatic personality changes. A hospital program could help your sister deal with the loss of her health and her scary emotions. They would also work with your family to teach you about your sister's injury and how to help her withour enabling jer. Good Luck!

Sounds like your mum is worn out and is struggling to deal with your sister. If you keep on trying so hard to help her you will end up worn out too. I know you love your sister but this isn't your problem, sweetie. Believe me there is help out there but you will need to get your mum to look into it. Does your sister still live at home? The best thing you can do right now is to back off a little and make some time for yourself in order to recharge your batteries and to see things from different angles before you get too caught up in feeling too much responsibility for your sister.

Well I would say that she is hurting in side. Try talking to one of her mates and getting them to talk with her. Tell her what she is doing and that she will end up dead the way she's going . I know how she would be feeling I was in to drugs and getting drunk all the time to get away from life it made me feel good but it takes a big scare to sit down and think what am I doing read up on the stuff she is doing and find some story of people who have been near death and hope that helps her. I hope that she get better.:(
