Spud started drinking his water again, but now he won't eat dog food. He's just 10 weeks old, so I don't really like this idea of holding out till he eats. Maybe if he was older. I've read the previous posts about this problem, but most of the advice seems like it would apply to older dogs? I know everything I should NOT give him (like garlic, onions, fruit etc.) So I just gave him some chicken liver this morning so he at least has something in his tummy. Yesterday I thought he might eat once hydrated again, but he refuses on dog food, even if I add something to the food that won't harm him. We've even tried a puppy meal enhancer (meaty chunks in gravy) he still won't.
What can I do to make him eat the dog food? And if he doesn't, what else can I do? Like I said he's only 10 weeks, and I don't want to just "hold it out"
Pleasee guys. And thanks:)

You didn't mention the breed, but my poodle will not eat ANYTHING that has touched plastic. I think they can smell the off-gassing. Anyway, he also has not eaten dog food in years (he is now 14) and I suspect food allergies to some of the fillers. Puppies certainly need the additional vitamins that commercial foods can provide. Try some really high quality wet food mixed in with the dry and avoid putting it in/on plastic (including the water dish). Good luck!

He hasn't had any. We're taking him Friday.

Puppies that don't want to eat or drink and are very lethargic may be sick.. and seriously sick. Is the stool still normal? Or is it runny?

If this is Parvo, you many not have the time to wait until Friday. I'm not sure why the vets in your country start vaccines at 8wks... he should have been started on his vaccines a month ago.

I hope your puppy is feeling better.

Thanks, he started eating some of his dog food yesterday, but refused again this morning so I made him a filling and healthy breakfast, it's a tradisional South African meal called "pap" if you would like to Google it. And mixed puppy meal enhancer into it
He ate that fine

10 weeks is a little young to be worried give him what he will eat,or a little choped ox liver they can't resist that and good for them, also give him a drink of milk if you don't think he has drank enough water, still nice for a treat. He is only a baby and won't need a lot he only has a small stomack, feed him anything he will eat with food value and get him on the dog food later he might find it too bland also when he gets older and eating properly dryed food is best they don't get diarea as much and they don't do as many smelly farts.
