There has to be a Grandma's Own Sure Fire Remedy out there to cure this issue.. We live out in the Country so it's Rural Mail and Mailbox across the road from the end of the laneway... Winter time we have a reminder of where the Dog's aim lands.. We have a neighbor who runs a Dog Rescue 1/2 mile down the road and I've spoken with them before but sometimes I believe there's a vacancy, lights are on but nobody's home.. I've had to replace the Mailbox Thanks to the Township Plow , we went for one of those new one piece Plastic types.. I can see come Spring and the warm sun.. It won't be the yellow stain this time but a smell to contend with... Anyone with a homemade remedy of sorts that I could lay down and throw the Dog's scent off and away... Thanks

Are you talking about a Mailbox post that dogs are peeing on?

Lots of hot sauce sprayed on post. If that fails, small brass cylinders with very tiny lead particles seems to do the trick.

I am unsure of the purpose of lead particles but must say that lead is poisonous to dogs if ingested. If you want there to be no scent then I would use the products made to clean up messes in a house when you are training your pups.

The hot sauce idea might work. They have sour apple sprays to stop pets marking indoor furniture that sometimes work. The question is how often you would need to re-apply in an outdoor setting.
