Shipments from HK can take, upwards of 28 days to arrive in the UK.

Even Express might not get there by Friday. I'd give it about a 20% chance of getting past London tomorrow, and probably not to your mailbox. Why did you think it would? Everything has to go through customs!

So there is still a slim chance I can get it by Friday..
I know, I know, but I'm still going to remain optimistic

I once got a small parcel from China to the US in 5 days that wasn't even Express.
Others the same size took around 35 days.
I've had maybe 25 shipments from China, and that's pretty much the range.

Of course I live in China now and it takes 3 to 5 days to get something from Hong Kong to us.
Of course tech, Hong Kong is not china, but that is another story.

But about 3 weeks would be average

Can anyone clarify to me what express shipment mean? Is that like extra quick service.. or just normal?

It is quicker, it normally goes air, the real time issue is customs, leaving Hong Kong, entering UK. Hong Kong better than main land China.
Example, our mail "China Post" which also does most packages also, were on Holiday for 5 days. Most of the entire government just shuts down for the Chinese New Year. 9 out of 10 business are closed.

Express is better than ground, but only by about a week,
