Does anyone remember an old black and white film where this american family is hosting a german boy, and he constantly recites this same thing in defense of his father who was part of the german military and a bad man. His only friend is the girl who lives with them in the house and near the end of the movie he messes that up and has to fix it. Near the end he tries to recite what he's been saying the whole movie in defense of his father and ends up breaking down and crying realizing that he wasn't a good man?
Literally been searching for this movie for years after I saw it once, but it was such a good movie.
