My dog is a lab mix with Beagle, he's approximately 11 years old always when outside to use the bathroom.. We went on a cruise for seven days someone was also stay here with him to let him go outside but I don't know what happened or why he started , and pee on the floor I'm not sure if this person scared him or he tried to tell her he needs to go the bathroom in the middle of night and she told him to get away.. I'm not sure what happened now that we are back I have tried cutting back on his foods and is water and having him to go outside often to go to bathroom.. Somehow in the night he goes and potties on the carpet... I'm just sure I'm not sure how I can help breaking from this.. I'm trying to give him a few weeks figure out ways to help them otherwise I might have put them down.

And what does the Vet say about health problems? My older dog suddenly was "unhousebroken" as a result of kidney disease.
You are going to put him down if the behavior continues? Can't you confine the dog?
Cutting back on food and water - causing the dog to be hungry and thirsty - is not going to change this behavior.
I trust you looked into the background of your pet sitter.

Why would you have to put him down?
Old dogs do old dog things and they will sometimes just simply forget to go outside. Their brain works just like ours and things like this can literally happen over night.
He might have a urinary infection.. it might be mild, but he still is having a hard time holding it over night.
Adrenal problems can pop up. Cushing's disease can cause dogs to do odd things such as pee on the carpet.
You also disrupted his routine by leaving and putting someone else in charge. That will send even a young dog into a tail spin and sometimes they really do do things out of revenge.
He could become incontinent and cannot help it, although it appears he is aware of what his needs are during the day.
Try putting him in a crate over night. Put a diaper on him over night. Check him out medically to make sure there is nothing wrong.
Putting your dog down due to a complication as small as this is very drastic... and if that is your solution, than I would suggest to not own a dog in your future.

I, too, got tangled up with the "them." 10 out of 10!
