Well as we were saving money to get him to a skin vet/ allergy vet something else came up.
I don't believe this is fleas as the vet treated him and the cats aggressively the last time. They had the meds every two weeks instead of monthly. The cats are not scratching or losing fur they are fine.
These are "bumps" I guess? They have a yellow crusty scab on them. He is cleaning himself more. He is eating, peeing, pooping, playing, active etc all normally. They are not clustered but scattered over his penis area and inside of back legs ONLY.
If he needs to go to vet he will go. Thing is I truly believe he needs to see an expert but for that we need to save money.
I am thinking cone back on so he can't lick the area
Someone suggested epsom salts baths, coconut oil and honey on them.

I still think this is a food allergy.

Have you ever considered going with a raw diet? Sometimes it's the preservatives and other junk that manufacturers put in the food that these dogs react to.

Lucky here is a link to his food. Maybe there is something I am not seeing and I do trust all of you dog experts. This site has helped me out so much with Owen since I first got him as a pup.

I am hoping to have the money next month it is a three pay check month. One of them is technically not budgeted so it can go for him and the specialist. Right now we are treating him at home with epsom salts and coconut oil. We did put a shirt on him but he ends up scratching himself more against the fence. If I wasn't so concerned it would be comical to see him do it. He backs up against the fence and rubs his butt back and forth and then bends oddly to get the top of his back.
The cats are still okay in house. I am mentioning fleas as that is what most people have told me. My heart also tells me this is his allergies and he needs to go to specialist. I guess I freak out so bad as I lost a cat to allergies. We had to put him to sleep as nothing worked from the vet and he was suffering and on daily pain meds and other medications. I get scared with allergies... terrified to be honest.

It appears to be a good food... But he could be allergic to a fruit or to heroin or to one of the oils. It's hard to tell without an actual allergy test.

That's why I suggest to put him in a home cooked meal and add different things at different times and wait for a reaction.

He is doing a bit better today. I am thinking hives if dogs can get them. As the bumps are decreasing. It is not as red. I told hubby my extra pay next month is for Owen to go to specialist. It will go in bank and not be touched. Monday will be us calling vet for an appointment for him. I am thinking he will need to come off his reactine for a bit as my cat had to. Something about they wanted his body reacting normally so they could see everything. That is why we are making the appointment ahead of time.

Okay it has to be allergies he is almost 100% cleared up. I have called the vet office and the vet was not in. They will call me back by Wed on how this goes for the referral and appointment(at least I hope I get one quickly).

I think you really need to save up for an allergy panel.

We will hear back on Wednesday about when he can see the allergist/skin vet. I called today but it is a holiday here (Family day) they were only open for people retail sales(dog food cat food etc)

Not sure if I posted this or not but it never rains but pours at least with Owen. He is back on rest. We had gone out for our late Valentines Day supper and when we came home Owen was limping. Opposite leg of last time. He is now able to bear weight on it. Not showing signs of pain. So I know the drill and my heart tells me this is the darn ligaments again.
Anyway heard back from the vet and I have to do 12 weeks of food trials. We have to pick up a special food from the vets that are broken down into the simplest proteins(basically the same one our cat was on but for dogs). We do the mixing the new food in slowly thing until he is eating only the new food then start counting the 12 weeks. This is so we can figure out if it is food, environmental etc. She called after hubby was at his second job so he will probably pick the new food up tomorrow on the way home from the first job.
Owen is not allowed ANY other food or treats during this time. I wish I had known about this before as I would have done this while we were saving money. First steps being taken for him. After allergies figured out then it is time for him and his joints to get discussed.

Ah yes, hydrolyzed protein diets. Good! Despite popular belief, it's usually the protein source that causes the allergic reaction, and rarely a grain.

Very rarely even those diets can cause a reaction. There is a new diet out and the protein source is the protein found within a feather. Yes, a FEATHER. It went through EXTENSIVE trials (I believe it has been in the works for at least 10 years), and is pretty much 100% guaranteed from what I recall to work if it is a food allergy, as the proteins have such a minuscule molecular weight.
