I am 19 years old and for the first time ever I decided to get a Depo shot July 31, 2012. Either the end of August or early September my period started. I went back Oct 18th (still on my period) for the follow up and the doctor said perhaps I should take another shot and see what happens so I did. The next follow up was January 4th, but I was so frustrated that I was still on my period that I didn't go back. Keep in mind prior to ever getting the depo my period was extremely regular, only lasting 3-5 days every month. It is now February 10, 2013 and I'm still on my period. There's even some brown discharge sometimes which I used to get on the last day of my period, now I always have it. And obvious there's a not so friendly smell sometimes. Any advice?

The depo shot usually prevents you from getting your period. This is not the norm.
I would get a second opinion. Did you go to an OB for this shot, or your family doctor?
Either way, having your period for this long is not normal, and you need to find out why it's happening. There's no way that you'll get the answers online. You'll need to see a doctor about this.
Good luck.

That's what I was thinking. I tried to go to the OB originally but apparently my insurance doesn't cover it unless I am referred so I decided to just stick with a family doctor. But thanks for replying !
