Hi there,

I'm having a drainage problem with my kitchen sink. The water is draining very slowly. I've tried cutting the pipe at the curve just before the vent goes up. I found a bunch of gunk in the pipe, so I thought that clearing it out would resolve the problem. Unfortunately, it hasn't. After reading some posts on this website, I also tried removing the AAV, in the hope that by removing it, the water would drain and all I would need to do is replace it. But that hasn't worked either.

Any ideas? Please help!

Time to rent/purchase an electric hand-held snake and snake the drain Franky. Just make sure the snake goes DOWN the drain and not UP the vent, OK?

Once you clear the blockage you want to run hot water down the drain and then repeat the snaking of the drain (maybe numerous times) for best/longest lasting result, OK?

Wear leather gloves and goggles for your own safety!

Thanks Mark! What kind of snake should I be renting? Are there different sizes/measurements?

In most cases, the hand-held snake that I posted a picture of will work for you! It can have a 1/4" thru 3/8" snake... either will work! Start by using a small head and then, at a maximum, use a 1" cutter head... should get the job done! Talk to your local tool rental store for more advice!
